It appears that the slave truly is greater than his master (Matthew 10:24). The "Slave" lives in rather high style, yet the Son of man had no where to lay his head; the trite and true question follows - "what is wrong with this picture?"

i knew older 'bro's" from the war years who had refused such service .
they joked that they had said in effect to the authorities "of course we want to work on the land, but not if you tell us to do it".

Greetings! There's quite a bit of information on this subject by Ray, Randy and Terry, which I will look up and pass on as soon as I am able. The Society's spin is that once-incarcerated brothers should not feel that their suffering "persecution" for the sake of their Bible-trained conscience was in vain. The truth, however, is that it WAS NOT PERSONAL CONSCIENCE but Society-driven directives. Many young brothers truly did not understand, much less could explain, why they were not allowed to accept alternative service. The reasoning was so preposterous and convoluted that it took the UN/NGO expose' to cut through the "knot" and effect a total reversal on behalf of young brothers.

I said Merry Christmas officially for the first time in over 40 years. It was to my newly adopted family who told me that I am "essential" to them. They, outsiders, "worldly ones", gave me food and comfort and cheer and everything I needed (rent money) to get through a very difficult year. They knew and appreciated this greeting was a first for me.
George Bailey is a prime example of the triumph of good [George] over evil [Mr. Potter]. The gut-wrenching despair over a hidden matter, orchestrated to ruin him, could not have been better portrayed than by Mr. Everyman himself, James Stewart.

My question regarding the above is how credible [moot point, I concede]interpretation of Scripture is attained:
Exegesis: an explanation or critical interpretation of a text.
Eisegesis: the interpretation of a text by reading into it one's own ideas.
To some extent I understand how the Brooklyn Oracle and his predecessors divined sacred pronouncements from on high - but regarding the latter WT comment that the Bible's author interprets scripture "by events" - how do Bible commentaries that have a longer shelf-life than WT publications put forth what SEEM to be more credible explanations?
